Methods to resolve the problem
Use the following methods in the provided order to try to resolve the problem. The instructions guide you through each method.

Method 1: Troubleshoot error messages

1.

Note the specific error message, and then note whether the error message refers to a specific file name.

2.

Visit the following Microsoft Web site to search the Microsoft Knowledge Base for information about the error message:
http://support.microsoft.com

3.

Type the error message or the file name in the Knowledge Base search box, and then press ENTER.

4.

If you cannot find a Knowledge Base article about the specific error message, try Method 2.

Method 2: Check the disc for damage

1.

Remove the disc from the drive, and then examine the disc for damage, for scratches, or for cracks.

2.

If the disc is damaged, contact AutoRepairInfo to obtain a replacement.

3.

When you receive a replacement disc, try to read the disc.

4.

If no damage and you still experience problems with the disc, try Method 3.

Method 3: Use a different disc drive

1.

If the computer has more than one disc drive, insert the disc in a different disc drive or use a different computer, and then try to read the disc again.

Note Make sure that the disc is compatible with the disc drive. For example, do not try to use a DVD disc together with a standard CD-ROM drive. Or, do not use a CD-RW disc together with a CD drive that does not support CD-RW discs. For DVD discs, make sure that the drive has a DVD logo on the front.

2.

If the disc works in the different disc drive, contact the manufacturer of the computer or the disc drive manufacturer for help. The original disc drive may have a problem.

3.

If the disc does not work in the different drive, contact AutoRepairInfo to obtain a replacement. The disc may be damaged.

4.

When you receive a replacement disc, try to read the disc.

5.

If you still experience problems with the replacement disc, try Method 4.

Method 4: Clean the disc drive

1.

Use a CD drive cleaning disc or a DVD drive cleaning disc to clean the disc drive.

Note Drive cleaning discs are available in most computer stores or home electronics stores. Before you purchase a drive cleaning disc, try to troubleshoot the problem by using the other methods that are listed.

2.

Try to read the disc again.

3.

If you still experience problems with the disc, try Method 5.

Method 5: Test the disc by copying files

1.

Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then press ENTER.

2.

Copy the files from the CD drive or from the DVD drive to the cdtest folder on the hard disk. To do this, type xcopy Disc Drive:\*.* HardDiskDrive:\cdtest /v /e at the command prompt, and then press ENTER.

Notes

  •

In this step, Disc Drive is the drive letter of the CD-ROM disc drive or of the DVD disc drive. HardDiskDrive is the drive letter of the hard disk drive.

If you are asked whether "cdtest" specifies a file name or a directory name, press F.

After the files have been copied, you can remove the files. To do this, type rd /s cdtest at the command prompt, and then press ENTER.

3.

If the files from the CD or from the DVD are not copied successfully.

If none of these methods work then please contact us at support@autorepairinfo.org and request a replacement disk stating in the email you have tried these methods to resolve your issues, please include your PayPal confirmation number or eBay auction number….thanks
